Even though your DirecTV Stream app has On Demand, the On Demand content through a class of apps called Watch with Cable apps offers more content and a better On Demand experience for some of the individual channels. For example there is a very limited number of TCM (Turner Classic Movie) titles available through DirecTV, and those that I have tried to stream through DirecTV completely disabled fast forwarding. The watchTCM app lists all the available movies and allows me to fast forward to a different starting point. The watch TCM app changes daily. New movies are added, old movies are removed.

Spanish - Pluto, Plex and ROKU apps offer a lot of free entertainment in Spanish to supplement the meager offerings from subscribed DirecTV package.
French Franophone
The streaming offerings in French on the DirecTV box are extremely limited. The SLING app on the DirecTV box is extremely out dated but it does offer at least the news in French.
