COMPUTER LAB
POLICIES
  • Current computer club membership sticker required to use the equipment.
  • NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE LAB.
  • Sign-in upon arrival at Lab
  • Computer time is limited to 1 hour  (when members are waiting)
PRINTER FEES
  • HP Laser Black and White Printer: Each day the first three copies are free, then additional pages are 10¢ each.
  • HP Inkjet Printer: No free copies,
            Black and White: 10¢ per page.
            Color: 20¢ per page.
  • Label-Maker laminated labels are 20¢ each.

HOURS OF OPERATION

The computer lab is only open when we have a volunteer Lab Monitor.  The rest of the time the room is locked.  Hours may vary depending on the availability of a Lab Monitor.  See the Calendar for current information.

November - mid April.
9:30am - 11:30am Monday - Friday
1:00pm - 3:00pm Monday - Friday 

BOOKS

The computer lab has an assortment of up to date computer books that can be checked out for 1 week.  Subjects include: Genealogy, Windows, Androids, and iPads.

EQUIPMENT

The computer lab has a wired network, independent from the Vista Association's WiFi Hotspot.

The lab has 7 desktop computers for use by our members.  These computers do not retain your information.  They all run DeepFreeze,  a kiosk software that insures that your information is deleted with each restart. All browsers are set to delete your cookies upon exit.

Desk space with Ethernet connections and surge protectors is also available for members with their own laptops.

 All of our computers have:

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Adobe Reader
  • LibreOffice (a free office suite)
  • Roots Magic (genealogy software)
  • PDFsam (a simple PDF editor)
  • GIMP (Photo Editing)

  • SD card readers (for your camera cards).

  • Projectors (our old VGA projector is available for loan.)
